Ellingson Island - This was one of my first landscape photos I had taken. I intended on getting a sunrise photo of Split Rock Lighthouse but things weren't lining up as I had hoped. Thinking I had gotten skunked, I packed up my gear and headed back to my truck. As I was walking back to my truck, I saw that the sun was going to rise up right behind the island. I ran over and saw all of this amazing cracked ice. I hurried to find a composition as the sun was rising and the temperature was -20. I found this composition. With my viewfinder frozen over, I took as many shots as I could hoping I had captured it. Here’s what I got.
